Jon Thorne Celebrates Danny Thompson.

Manchester-based bass player, bandleader and composer Jon Thorne leads this concert featuring his idol, the legendary folk/cross-over bass player Danny Thompson. Crossing folk, jazz and world boundries throughout his career, Thompson celebrates 50 years in the business. Danny will perform in Jon Thorne's 3 part 20 minute suite, a premier commissioned especially for Manchester Jazz Festival.
The ensemble also features some of Manchester's leading jazz artists, including guitarist Stuart McCallum and drummer, Dave Walsh, as well as leading UK fiery reeds player Gilad Atzmon.
In the second half, Jon Thorne performs five new arrangements of Danny Thompson's pieces from his 'Whatever' period in a personal tribute.
